Umphf is a progressive eclectic duo hailing from middle England. Luke moved back to England from mainland europe having toured for 8 years with various American singer songwriters such as Townes van Zandt,Guy clarke Paul K & the weathermen(touring with the Afghan Whiggs)Alex Chilten,also jazz legends such as Rashied Ali(john Coltranes ex drummer)Also he dipped into the electronic worlds of New York and London touring with WEtm and Techno Animal and many more. The many varied artists all show there influences on the 12 songs luke wrote for his latest release EVERYONE NEEDS A LITTLE. moving back to England luke was hit by all the great musicians around and decided to use the talent around to create a varied c.d that would lead the listeners on a journey thru Dance,Blues,Rock,Punk and pop. Teaming up with his long time friend Gaz(le bass)Clarke who supplies umphf with driving double bass lines infused with Rock,Jazz and then sweet & soul full sounds the duo have created a new provocative band with sounds and sights guarenteed to push buttons. Gaz having toured Europe & the U.S many times with various bands and still touring England mixes with luke to provide an totally original experience,whether with the acoustic duo or the full electric sound.........so come and have a listen 'cause Everyone needs a little.......UMPHF!
