Where Land meets the Sea’ – Pearl Gatehouse & Sue Firmin
Pearl’s sea and landscape paintings are vibrant, colourful and spiritually uplifting, using flowing, natural, organic shapes and rhythms. “I see each painting as a positive statement, a formalised expression of an intense creative response to a particular time and place.”
Sue is inspired by the effects of the weather eroding the surface of the land, and the way in which natural harbours form, protecting the land from the fury of the seas. “I paint the emotions I feel using layers of paint making textures that seem as weathered as the land around me until the colours and the surface appear to have the same textural qualities as the landscape.”
