The dying days of the Apple Tree were in the last months of 2004. It was the end of an era. But then three months later, after a major refurbishment, the FIREFLY was born on the 25th March 2004. The start of a new era!

Straight away the Firefly became a cultural phenomenon. With people travelling from all around to visit this grand old geogian boozer and sample its delights namely the extensive variety of european beers & real ales. As ever still trying to find new and different products & playing music from a wide variety of genre's old and new.

At the beginning of summer in 2005, the garden area had a complete overhaul with the added bonus of outside heating transforming the area into a comfortable and relaxing sun trap. The mezzanine had a pergola fitted which offers a Mediterranean feel in the heat of the summer & with soft lighting makes for an extra room in the evening.

Beginning of 2006 saw the upstairs room converted into a cocktail bar and was an instant hit with new customers and regulars alike. The latest improvements in mid 2007 came in the form of a contemporary refurbishment for the main bar and 'snug'.

Early 2008 see's the next phase of the development for this vibrant venue, with a new p.a installed and monthly line-up's of up and coming dj's & bands from across the u.k.
